First Qian Family Posting: November 14, 2006

Dear Friends & Family:

This blog is a new experiment. After seeing many of our friends' blogs, we thought "why not?". William assured me this was something I could handle (being the very non-technical person that I am), so I agreed to be in charge of it. We'll see how it goes!

Since this is the first posting, I'll keep it short and sweet until I see if this actually works. As far as our family update goes...

Our latest news is that we're heading to the Bay Area tomorrow in order to find a house. William will begin his job in San Francisco in January and we'll move there just a week before Christmas. We're starting to get excited and we're hoping we find a great place. Every time we ask Abraham what we're going to do in California, he says "find a new yard". Annabelle says, "new house". I guess the kids are as anxious as we are to have a change.

In other news, we are expecting a baby at the end of February. We hadn't formally announced it because it has been a difficult pregnancy with some serious complications at the beginning. However, knock on wood, it seems that things are progressing more normally now. We are told that the kids will welcome their baby brother around February 27.

In previous news, for those of you who don’t know, we had the opportunity to spend the entire summer in China. We introduced the kids to their grandparents and extended family in Hubei province. We went back to Guangzhou, the place William and I met five years ago. We completed a service project in Gan Quan (training secondary school English teachers) and, of course, worked! (William worked as a consultant for Mondoro Company and I taught summer school for one month.) It was an incredibly emotional learning experience for our family and I’m sure we’ll have more details on that in some future posting!

Well, I said I’d keep this short and sweet so I’d better end it for now. Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving next week!
